Though songbird I not be
This perch works fine for me
With vision keen and talons sharp
When I arrive others depart

A smorgasbord of food awaits
Without delay he does partake
Transporting seeds up in the tree
Grabs all he can, as it’s for free

Bright red plumage is what I see
His song with its melodic tone
Calls his female partner home
Dinner at twilight, just for two
When the other birds are few
Quietly they nosh on seeds
Finding all the food they need
Taking flight at day’s last light
Off they head into the night
