I have seen mumurations of starlings (in England) but never this number of geese at one time. We do get huge gaggles of snow geese – we are on the Pacific flyway – but when I have seen them they have been mostly on the ground eating every blade of grass in sight.
These are migratory Snow Geese. We just happened to stop at an area lake one day in spring and caught what turned out to be a record number. It was truly amazing.
There is a large lake, above which they were flying. They did settle there and I’m sure found food. Snow Geese just stop in our area in the spring to rest and refuel as they make their way along their migratory route.
Whoa! Those are geese?! I’ve never seen such a display. Thank you for sharing!!

Wow! So many of them! In Poland they travel in keys, not in flocks.

It was a thrill to watch them land on the water and then take to the skies.

Amazing. These surprises of nature are what makes it worthwhile to leave our computers now and then! Ha.

Do you suppose they all land in one place for the night? What would they find to eat?
