I never thought
I’d live to
Be
A senior citizen
No, not
Me
I never thought
I’d live to
See
Wiry, grey hairs
All for
Free
I never thought
My limbs would
Be
Gnarly and bent
Like a
Tree
Yet here I am
On bended
Knee
Grateful, alive and kicking
Still to
Be

I am the opposite. I looked forward to getting old but I hadn’t counted on having to think about dying. That has come as a bit of a shock. I have written my will.

Way back in high school we had to write our obituary… I was gone in my thirties. Glad I instead get the pleasure of more years. GREAT poem!

One day I will be old…. but at the moment I am only seventy.
