I sensed it was probably somwhere up near Silverton in Colorado. A lot of old mines like this one. Long time abandoned having left behind mountains of toxic debris! Years ago I remember hearing about projects to clean them all up. No idea what came of that.
Such a beautiful area! There’s a little town up from Durango called Ouray. One of my favorite places. Haven’t been there in over 20 years!

I snapped this shot on a train ride from Durango to Silverton. We didn’t get to stop and explore, but it did look a bit creepy for sure!

They have done a pretty good job of cleaning up the Animas River. I have heard of Ouray, but we have never been there. Thanks for commenting!
