The site of the Sunken Gardens was originally a dump in the Great Depression. It was transformed to a public garden as part of the WPA projects to put men to work. In entering the gardens, one does walk down, as they lie below street level….hence the name! Now you know more than you ever wanted to know (lol)!

It is! The garden is planted each year with over 10,000 annuals. It’s a great place for photography.
