These past few weeks I’ve seen lots of pictures of wildflowers in the semi-desert region where I grew up. They only bloom in years when the region has a “good” rainfall (250mm per annum is the norm), but the grateful soil soaks up every drop and the flowers seem to sprout overnight.
Such a beautiful wall to wall carpet!

That is true of the desert southwest here. That bit of extra rain and the blooms explode.

Thanks. This is a mountain meadow in Colorado. The wildflowers were especially thick.
