I was lucky to see a solar eclipse here in Europe more than ten years ago. We were on the roof of an office building and had a great view along a very wide, flat valley. It was unbelievable how the darkness raced along the valley towards us. At that moment I could understand how people in ancient times were horrified. It was a bit scary and amazing at the same time. I’m happy for all of you that you had the chance to experience this, it’s something that I think one will always remember with wonder.
We had a bit of cloud cover, so we did not experience the wall of darkness moving toward us and were unable to see the stars. It was still quite extraordinary.

We had a bite of swarm back, so we did not experience the bulwark of darkness moving toward us and were unable to run across the stars. I recollect the neatest thing I power saw was from the Nasa programme… they were in a planer filming the overshadow above the swarms.
LOVE this photo!

Very cool! I didn’t think to look at tree shadows, but I saw another photo on Twitter like yours. You would post it there! If you are on Twitter. 😉

I am so glad someone I know got to take photos. We had clouds and rain today so no pictures sadly. Love this!

We lucked out. Even though there were high clouds, they parted just enough at the last moment to allow us to see totality. It was awesome!
